# Remove BeamDisk

> How to stop using BeamDisk on a Mac: stop Time Machine backups to its disks, remove the Time Machine profile, remove your disks and their CHAP secrets, and delete the app.

Removing BeamDisk from a Mac leaves your disks and their data on the server, where another Mac can use them.

## Remove it

1. If Time Machine backs up to a BeamDisk disk, open System Settings → General → Time Machine and remove that disk from the backup disks.
2. If BeamDisk's Time Machine profile is installed, open System Settings → General → Device Management, select **BeamDisk: Time Machine support** and remove it. macOS asks for an administrator's password.
3. In BeamDisk's window, eject each disk and choose **Remove…** from its Options menu. This also deletes its CHAP secret from your Keychain.
4. Choose **Disconnect All and Quit** from the quick menu.
5. Delete BeamDisk from the Applications folder.

## Moving to another Mac

You don't need to remove BeamDisk to move a disk: remove the disk on one Mac, then add it on the other. See [One Mac per disk](https://beamdisk.app/docs/disks/exclusive-access/).
